Dr. Michelle was selected to participate in the Latinos for Education Board Fellowship, a highly competitive program that offers training in board governance.

Mentoring students is a family affair. Dr. Michelle and her husband Brock were dedicated mentors to many San Jac students and athletes over the years.

Along with other dedicated faculty, Dr. Michelle started San Jac 1st Gen, a mentoring program for students who are the first in their families to attend college.

One of the most important jobs in the world is that of a teacher. Dr. Michelle started at San Jac as an ESL teacher at North Campus in 2005 and worked as a full-time professor at Central campus for years.
National Assessment Governing Board

As a member of the National Assessment Governing Board (NAGB), Dr. Cantú-Wilson contributes to shaping the policies and direction of The Nation’s Report Card (NAEP), the only nationally representative assessment of student achievement in the United States. She also serves as the Vice Chair of the Committee on Standards, Design, and Assessment. With her extensive background in K-12 and higher education leadership, community college governance, and workforce development, she brings a critical perspective to assessment design, policy decisions, and equity considerations.
Her role involves setting assessment frameworks, determining performance standards, and ensuring that NAEP data remains an independent, valid, and reliable measure of student learning. Committed to educational excellence and accessibility, Cantú-Wilson leverages her expertise to ensure that NAEP results provide actionable insights for educators, policymakers, and the public, supporting data-driven improvements in student learning, teacher effectiveness, and workforce readiness across the nation.
